4×6 inch. Artisan oil on gesso panel, mounted and framed in thin brushed gold.
Part of a series about being ‘in the middle of things’ – oil paintings capturing sections of longer stories. The flowers on this fox-tail lily are opening one by one from bottom to top, and some in the centre of this painting are half open, capturing this process of blooming in action. I enjoyed playing with the colour contrasts within each flower, with the pale cobalt blues singing against the peach, and the rich coral ground.
